Battle Chess II: Chinese Chess takes the classic animated chess fights and gives them a whole new flavor. Instead of queens and bishops, you're moving pieces like cannons and ministers—took me a minute to figure out how they all worked, but once you get the hang of it, the strategy feels fresh. The board’s laid out differently too, with a river splitting the middle that some pieces can’t cross.
And yeah, the fights are still ridiculous in the best way. Watching your cannon blast an enemy piece or two advisors team up to take down a general never gets old. If you liked the original Battle Chess but want something with a totally different rhythm, this is worth a look. Just don’t expect your usual opening moves to work here.
