Game Overview

Pharaohs Revenge came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Aspex Software. It was one of those early PC platformers that felt right at home alongside other keyboard-controlled adventures of the time, offering a straightforward but challenging take on the treasure hunter theme without a lot of frills.

You control an explorer making their way through a multi-level pyramid, room by room. The goal is to collect all the treasure in each stage while avoiding traps, enemies like mummies and scarabs, and the pursuing pharaoh himself. Key mechanics include dodging rolling boulders, timing your movements around spike pits, and using doors and ladders to outmaneuver threats. The game moves quickly and punishes mistakes harshly, often resetting your progress in a level if you die. It feels tense and immediate, like every decision could be your last.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
