Pirates of the Caribbean for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2003 from Bethesda Softworks. It was one of those licensed action games that tried to capture the movie's energy on a small screen, back when handhelds were really hitting their stride with more ambitious titles.

You control Jack Sparrow, moving screen by screen through ports, caves, and enemy ships. The main goal is to fight your way through cursed sailors and other threats, using a simple but timing based sword combat system where parrying matters. You also get into ship battles, maneuvering to avoid broadsides while lining up your own cannon shots. The game can be tough in spots, with some frustrating enemy patterns, but it moves at a decent clip. It feels like a scrappy, close quarters brawl most of the time, with just enough variety to keep you engaged.
