Okay, so this is the weird Game Boy Color version of Planet of the Apes—not the PlayStation one, even though they slapped the same cover art on both. It’s a side-scroller where you play as this astronaut (not Charlton Heston, sadly) crash-landed on the ape planet, punching and jumping through jungles and ruins. The sprites are tiny but kinda charming, and the music has that classic GBC bleep-bloop energy.
Funny thing—it’s got nothing to do with the movie’s plot. You’re just some random guy fighting apes with your fists, dodging spears, and occasionally finding a gun that disappears after three shots. It’s janky, but if you’re into retro licensed games with zero respect for their source material, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect deep lore or accurate ape politics.
