Okay, so Pokémon: A Grand Day Out isn’t actually a real GBA game—but if it existed, it’d be that perfect lazy Sunday of Pokémon spin-offs. No gym leaders breathing down your neck, no world-ending crises—just you and your team wandering through fields, maybe tossing a ball for your Growlithe or fishing up something ridiculous with an old rod.

The charm would be in the little things: stumbling across a hidden berry patch, watching your Pidgeotto actually land for once instead of dive-bombing enemies, or finding a weirdly competitive mini-game where Squirtle races other water types down a river. And of course, there’d be that one NPC who swears they saw Mew napping in a tree, sending you on a wild (but low-stakes) goose chase.

It’s the kind of game you’d play when you want the cozy nostalgia of pixelated grass and chiptune music without the grind. Sometimes you just wanna hang out with your Pokémon, y’know?
