Pokémon Edición Perla (S)(FireX) is basically the classic Pearl version, but with some extra spice—think faster leveling, tweaked difficulty, and a few surprises if you’ve played the original. You still start in Sinnoh, picking your first Pokémon (I always go with Chimchar, but that’s just me), then wander through towns battling trainers and filling up your Pokédex.

The battles feel snappier here, and wild Pokémon show up more often, which is great if you’re impatient like me. There’s something satisfying about running into a Starly for the tenth time while grinding—until you finally find that one rare spawn you’ve been hunting. The FireX tweaks make gym leaders hit harder too, so you can’t just steamroll them with an overleveled starter.

If you’ve played Pearl before, the changes keep it fresh without losing that nostalgic DS-era charm. Just watch out for Cynthia—she’s still terrifying.
