You control a young trainer who sets out to collect Pokemon, challenge gym leaders, and eventually confront Team Galactic. The main goal is to fill your Pokedex and become the champion, but Platinum adds the Distortion World, a surreal area with gravity-defying puzzles focused on Giratina. The Battle Frontier returns too, offering tough post-game challenges that demand carefully bred and trained teams. The pacing is deliberate, with some slow sections early on, but the expanded story and additional content give the journey more depth. It feels like a more complete and polished version of the Sinnoh adventure.
