Pokemon Emerald Enhanced came out for the Game Boy Advance in 1970, though I'm not sure who developed or published it. It was one of those fan-made projects that popped up during the GBA's later years, offering a fresh take on the familiar Hoenn region. The game builds on the original Ruby and Sapphire, adding new events and mechanics that make the world feel more alive.
You control a young trainer who explores towns, routes, and caves while catching wild Pokemon and battling other trainers. Your main goal is to collect eight gym badges, defeat the Elite Four, and become the champion. The game introduces new double battles, an expanded Battle Frontier, and additional post-game storylines involving Team Magma and Aqua. The pacing is brisk, with a higher difficulty curve that keeps you strategizing about type matchups and team composition. It feels like rediscovering an old favorite with surprises around every corner.
