The signature mechanics are the same as the series staples: you catch wild Pokemon using different types of Poke Balls, train them through turn based battles, and use their abilities to navigate the world, like cutting down trees or surfing across water. The pacing is fairly steady, with a mix of exploration, puzzle solving in caves and forests, and strategic team building that can get challenging against certain gym leaders or rival fights. It feels satisfying to slowly build a team that can handle whatever the region throws at you.
