Pokemon Feuerrote is a GBA remake of the original Kanto adventure, but with a fresh coat of paint. The first thing you notice is how crisp everything looks compared to the old Game Boy version, though it still has that classic feel.

You start in Pallet Town, same as always, but the routes feel a little more alive. The grass rustles differently, the trainers have slightly better AI, and the music hits just right. It's familiar, but not exactly the same.

I remember grinding my Charmander against wild Rattatas for way too long before taking on Brock. His Onix still wrecks you if you're not prepared, but somehow it feels less punishing this time around. Maybe it's the smoother framerate.

Pokemon Feuerrote doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's a solid way to revisit Kanto if you're feeling nostalgic.
