Pokemon Polka Aqua is a GBA rom hack that leans hard into the water theme. You start on a tiny island surrounded by ocean, and even the early routes feel like they're half submerged. The first gym leader uses a team of water types, which is either refreshing or frustrating depending on how you built your team.

Caught a few weird-looking Pokémon I'd never seen before—some look like rejected aquarium exhibits, others are just blue versions of regular ones. The surfing animations are smoother than I expected, though the overworld tiles can get repetitive after a while.

It's not the most polished hack out there, but if you like water types or just want something different, Pokemon Polka Aqua has its charm. Just don't expect deep balance or a ton of new mechanics.
