Pokemon StunningSteel feels like stumbling into a familiar dream with a few odd twists. You start in a small town, pick your starter, and wander into tall grass like always, but something's off—the sprites have this slightly rougher, almost hand-drawn look, and some of the new Pokemon designs are either weirdly charming or just weird.

I remember grinding against wild Geodudes for an hour near the first gym, only to realize my team was still getting wrecked by the leader's electric types. The balance feels a little uneven in places, like whoever made it had strong opinions about which Pokemon should be overpowered.

It's still a GBA-era Pokemon game at heart, though. If you can look past the janky bits, there's a solid adventure here with some genuinely cool moments, like stumbling into a cave full of steel-types you've never seen before. Pokemon StunningSteel won't replace the classics, but it's a decent way to kill time if you've played the official ones to death.
