You start off like any Pokémon game—pick a starter, name your rival—but within an hour, the story takes this weird turn where even the NPCs seem sketchy. One minute you’re battling gym leaders, the next you’re sneaking through some underground lab with flickering lights. The sprites are surprisingly polished for a fan game, though good luck guessing type matchups when half your team looks like they evolved in a radioactive swamp.

Fair warning: the difficulty spikes hard around the third gym. My poor Geodude got one-shotted by a grass-type because apparently thorns now deal poison damage? Classic GBA jank, but it’s the kind of chaos that makes you save constantly just to see what nonsense happens next.
