Pokemon X Inazuma Eleven is one of those weird but fun GBA rom hacks where you get to mix soccer and monster battles. At first it feels like a regular Pokemon game, but then suddenly you're controlling a team of players on the field, passing the ball while your Charizard acts as a striker. The sprites are rough but charming, like someone frankensteined two games together in the best way.

I remember my first match where my Pikachu kept stealing the ball with quick tackles, only for the opponent's Blastoise to bodycheck it into the goal. The gameplay shifts between turn-based battles and arcade-style soccer, which takes some getting used to. Sometimes the mechanics clash, but when it works, it's oddly satisfying to pull off a fireball shot with your team.

If you're into janky but creative mashups, Pokemon X Inazuma Eleven is worth checking out. Just don't expect polished gameplay.
