Game Overview

Pokemon X & Y GBA is a fan-made demake of the 3DS games, bringing Kalos to the GBA. The pixel art is surprisingly detailed, with familiar locations like Lumiose City shrunk down but still recognizable. You start in Vaniville Town, picking your starter—Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie—and the nostalgia hits hard if you played the originals.

The battles feel faster than the 3DS version, maybe because of the simpler animations. Early on, you’ll notice some quirks—like certain moves behaving differently or wild Pokemon appearing in odd places. It’s not perfect, but there’s charm in seeing Mega Evolutions crammed into GBA sprites.

One thing that stands out is how they handled the overworld. Routes feel condensed, but not in a bad way. You’ll still get lost in tall grass, still run into trainers who seem way too eager to battle. It’s a weird mix of old-school and modern Pokemon, and somehow it works.

If you’re into ROM hacks or just miss the GBA era, Pokemon X & Y GBA is worth checking out. Just don’t expect a flawless port.
