Pokemon Zafiro (S) is one of those GBA roms that feels familiar but has its own quirks. You start in Littleroot Town like usual, but the pacing feels a little off—trainers seem tougher early on, and some wild encounters are weirdly rare. The Hoenn region looks right, though the colors are slightly washed out compared to the original.

I remember grinding for hours just to beat the first gym because my Treecko kept getting wrecked by Roxanne’s rock types. The game doesn’t hold your hand much, which I kinda liked, but the lack of decent early-game Pokémon made it frustrating. Still, there’s something satisfying about finally building a balanced team after all that struggle.

If you’re into harder-than-usual Pokémon roms, Pokemon Zafiro (S) might be worth a look, but don’t expect a polished experience.
