Primal Rage on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1994, developed by Atari Games. It was part of that wave of arcade ports that tried to bring the noisy, crowded arcade experience right into your living room, with mixed but memorable results.

You control one of several giant prehistoric creatures, like a fire-breathing ape or a venom-spitting dinosaur, and your goal is to defeat rival beasts across a series of one-on-one fights. The game uses a six-button layout for different attacks and special moves, many of which involve grabbing and eating human worshippers to regain health. Matches are fast and often chaotic, with clunky collision and some awkward hit detection that gives it a certain rough-edged personality. It feels like a messy, loud tribute to simpler fighting games.
