R&T came out in 1990 as an arcade cabinet release from Arcade Studios. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers, the kind you’d drop a quarter into between rounds of more famous fighters. The graphics were sharp for the time, with a clean look that made it stand out in a crowded arcade.

You control a small, agile character who runs and jumps through obstacle-heavy levels. The main goal is to reach the end of each stage while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. Two key mechanics define the action: precise, pixel-perfect jumps over bottomless pits, and a timing-based attack that lets you stun enemies with a quick tap of the jump button. The difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding fast reflexes and careful route planning. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally nail a tricky section after several attempts.
