R-Type on the Sega Master System is one of those shooters that feels punishing but fair—if you can handle the challenge. You start off with this little drone thing that sticks to your ship, and figuring out how to use it properly makes all the difference. The first level throws these weird organic-looking aliens at you, and the music just nails that "you're alone in deep space" vibe.
Boss fights are where it really shines—huge, screen-filling monstrosities that take forever to bring down. I died so many times on the third level because I kept misjudging the patterns. But when you finally beat one? Feels amazing. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
