Game Overview

Robot Poncots - Star Version (Japan) is one of those Game Boy Color games that makes you wonder why more people don’t talk about it. You’ve got these tiny, weirdly charming robots—each with their own little quirks—navigating through bright, puzzle-heavy levels. At first, it feels like a mix of dropping bombs and solving mazes, but then you realize there’s way more to it.

The Star Version has its own set of robots and stages (the Moon Version is its sibling game), and back in the day, you could trade between them. It’s like Pokémon, but with more explosions and less grass to walk through. The pixel art pops on the GBC screen, and some of the later stages will actually make you stop and think before moving. Not bad for a game about cute little machines.

If you’re into retro stuff that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still has some depth, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on that one stage with the conveyor belts.
