I picked up Robots for the Nintendo DS back in 2005, a tie-in game developed by Eurocom that came out alongside the animated movie. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt pretty common on the system at the time, built to capitalize on a film's release but offering a decent, self-contained adventure if you were into the source material or just looking for something to play.
You control Rodney Copperbottom, navigating through industrial environments, jumping across platforms, and grinding on rails to collect bolts and parts. The main goal is to progress through levels, avoid hazards, and gather enough resources to upgrade Rodney's abilities, like improving his magnet or increasing his health. The game uses the DS's dual screens for the action and map display, and the touch screen occasionally comes into play for simple minigames. The pacing is straightforward, and the difficulty stays manageable, making it accessible for younger players. It feels like a simple, functional platformer that gets the job done without too much fuss.
