Play Robots (J) Online
Piloting a clunky mech never felt so good—you feel every heavy step and rattling shot as you tweak your rig between missions. Gotta play smart though, or you'll overheat mid-fight and eat a missile.

I picked up Robots for the Nintendo DS back in 2005, a game developed by Vicarious Visions. It was one of those many licensed titles that came out around the time the DS was still finding its footing, a straightforward action platformer based on the animated film. You don't see many people talk about it now, but it had its own little place on the system.
You control a young robot named Rodney Copperbottom, running and jumping through a variety of industrial and urban levels. The main goal is to progress through each stage, defeating enemy bots and avoiding environmental hazards. Two mechanics stand out: you collect bolts as currency to purchase upgrades between levels, and you can temporarily transform into a more powerful, zippier version of yourself called the Wonderbot to clear certain obstacles. The pacing is fairly brisk, and the difficulty is manageable, never becoming too punishing. It feels like a solid, no-frills platformer that gets the job done without overcomplicating things.
