Sands of Destruction came out on the Nintendo DS in 2008, published by SEGA. The game follows a group trying to literally destroy the world, which is ruled by beastmen who oppress humans.

You control Kyrie Illunis and his companions as they travel across a world map, moving from towns to dungeons and engaging in turn-based battles. The main goal is to gather allies and power to complete their mission of global annihilation. Combat uses a system where you chain together attacks from your party members to build combos and break enemy defenses; positioning on the battlefield also matters, as you can push foes into hazards or line them up for area attacks. The pacing is deliberate, with a fair amount of story and dialogue between exploration segments, and the difficulty can spike during some boss fights. It feels like a solid, traditional JRPG with just enough mechanical twists to keep the battles engaging.
