Game Overview

Ever wanted to punch a kaiju as a tiny, super-deformed Ultraman? That’s basically SD Ultra Battle in a nutshell. It’s this weirdly addictive SNES fighter where all the Ultraman heroes and monsters are shrunk down into these chibi versions of themselves, but still throw down with ridiculous energy beams and wrestling moves. The first time I played, I accidentally spammed Ultraman’s Specium Ray and felt like a genius—until the CPU countered with a flying kick and humbled me real quick.

It’s got that classic 90s fighting game vibe—simple inputs, flashy supers, and a surprising amount of strategy once you dig into the team battles. The roster’s full of deep-cut Ultraman characters (some I didn’t even recognize), and the stages have these little details like crumbling buildings and cheering crowds that make it feel like a proper tokusatsu brawl. No English release, but the menus are easy enough to fumble through, and honestly, the absurdity of watching tiny giants suplex each other needs no translation.

If you’ve got a soft spot for retro fighters or grew up on Ultraman reruns, this one’s a blast—just be ready for the theme song to get stuck in your head for days.
