Game Overview

Ever played one of those old MS-DOS war games that makes you feel like you're actually sweating over a battlefield map? Shiloh - Grant’s Trial in the West is exactly that—no fancy graphics, just you, General Grant’s hat, and a brutal Civil War scenario where every misplaced regiment might cost you the battle.

First time I booted it up, I thought I could just throw troops at the enemy. Big mistake. The game forces you to think about supply lines, terrain, even the weather. Mess up your cavalry placement early on, and by hour three (real time, not game time), you’ll be desperately trying to stop Confederate forces from flanking your artillery. The historical details are everywhere—right down to the exhaustion levels of individual brigades.

It’s not for everyone. If you need explosions every five seconds, look elsewhere. But if you’ve ever wanted to lose an entire afternoon micro-managing 19th-century logistics while muttering “Why did I put the supply depot THERE?”, this is your jam. Just remember: the real Grant nearly got fired after Shiloh. Don’t be surprised if you fail harder than he did.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
