Game Overview
Shining Force 3’s third scenario (Japan-only, sadly) wraps up the trilogy with some of the best tactical battles on the Saturn. You’re leading a ragtag team—knights, archers, even a weird little robot guy—across grid-based maps where positioning matters way more than you’d think at first. Mess up and watch your healer get swarmed by bandits.
The story’s surprisingly solid for a mid-90s SRPG, with political backstabbing and ancient magic colliding. Some of the late-game fights will make you sweat—enemies love flanking your squishy mages if you leave them exposed. Pro tip: don’t ignore the terrain bonuses. That +10% defense on hills? It’ll save your frontline more than once.
Still holds up if you can handle the old-school pacing. Just wish the whole trilogy got an official English release.
