Game Overview

SimCity Classic came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Maxis Software. It was one of the early city-building games that ran on home computers, letting players design and manage a city from scratch without any pre-set scenarios or storylines to follow.

You control the city's development by zoning residential, commercial, and industrial areas, placing power plants and police stations, and managing the budget through taxes and loans. The main goal is to keep the city growing and solvent while responding to crises like traffic congestion, fires, or occasional disasters. Key mechanics include balancing income against expenses, adjusting tax rates to keep citizens happy, and dealing with unpredictable events such as monster attacks or earthquakes. The pacing is deliberate, with success depending on careful planning and adaptability. It feels satisfying to see your city thrive through your own decisions.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
