You control Sonic, dashing through familiar Green Hill Zone loops and smashing robot enemies. The goal remains to stop Dr. Robotnik, but the physics are subtly different; momentum feels less reliable, and springs sometimes behave unexpectedly. The game uses Mode 7 for the final boss, scaling and rotating the battlefield in a way the Genesis original never did.
