Space Fever is a 1979 arcade game by Nintendo, now playable through MAME 0.243. It arrived during a period when many developers were experimenting with space shooters, and it reflects the straightforward, screen based design common at the time.
You control a small ship at the bottom of the screen, firing upward at descending alien invaders. The main objective is to clear each wave of enemies before they reach your position. Signature mechanics include the aliens' gradual, menacing descent and their occasional sudden dive bomb attacks, which force quick evasive maneuvers. The pacing is methodical at first but accelerates sharply as you progress, and the difficulty ramps up in a way that demands constant attention. It feels like a tense, reactive dance against an increasingly aggressive opponent.
