Game Overview
Space Invaders on GBC is exactly what you'd hope for—a solid little pocket version of the arcade classic. The aliens march down in that same hypnotic pattern, but now with a splash of Game Boy Color neon. I kept catching myself leaning sideways like it’d help my shots land.
There’s something satisfying about the way the screen shakes when you clear a wave, and the power-ups (like that spread shot) make it feel just different enough from the original. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way—one looks like a floating brain with way too many eyes.
It’s simple, but that’s the point. You’ll either zone out for 10 minutes or get weirdly competitive with your own high score. The arcade mode’s a nice touch if you miss the quarter-munching feel of the cabinet.
