Game Overview

Ever played those old-school top-down shooters where every bullet mattered and you actually had to think before running in guns blazing? Special Forces on MS-DOS is exactly that—a no-nonsense, pixelated warzone where you’re outnumbered, outgunned, and weirdly okay with it.

You start with a basic rifle and zero hand-holding. The first mission drops you in some jungle outpost, and within seconds, enemy soldiers pour in from all sides. The controls are simple (arrow keys to move, space to shoot), but surviving? That’s the hard part. Ammo’s scarce, so wasting shots feels like a crime, and the AI isn’t dumb—they flank, they take cover, and they will ruin your day if you’re careless.

What hooked me was the tension. One wrong move, and suddenly you’re backtracking through tall grass while enemies fan out to hunt you. The missions mix sabotage, rescues, and straight-up firefights, and the chunky pixel explosions never get old. It’s got that Metal Gear vibe but stripped down to pure, unforgiving action. Just don’t be surprised when you lose an hour to "one more attempt."

If you’ve got DOSBox and a soft spot for games that play rough, this one’s a blast from the past that still holds up.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
