Game Overview

Spirou on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1995 from Infogrames. It was one of those late-era platformers that tried to capture the energy of a comic book, with bright colors and a sense of constant motion. You don't see many games based on European comics on the SNES, so it always stood out a bit, even if it wasn't the most polished title on the system.

You control Spirou, a bellhop turned reporter, and your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped friend. The gameplay is built on screen-by-screen exploration, jumping across platforms and climbing ropes to navigate each stage. You have a basic punch attack, but you also collect and use gadgets, like a water pistol that can stun enemies or put out fires. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially in later levels. It feels like playing through a slightly chaotic, interactive cartoon.
