Star Fox came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the first games to use the Super FX chip, which gave the SNES the ability to render simple 3D polygonal graphics. You control Fox McCloud, the leader of a team of mercenary pilots, from a behind-the-ship perspective. Your main objective is to fly through a series of on-rails levels, shooting down enemy fighters and dodging obstacles to reach and defeat the final boss, Andross. Signature mechanics include performing a barrel roll to deflect incoming laser fire and using your ship's brakes or boost to navigate tight corridors. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be punishing, demanding quick reflexes and memorization of enemy patterns. It feels like a tense, chaotic scramble through a hostile sci-fi universe.
