Play Super B-Daman - Fighting Phoenix (Japan) Online

Pick a marble-shooting robot, duck behind cover, and nail wild ricochets off the walls—those tense little arena battles make every shot count. The fire-based one’s my favorite, obviously.

Game Overview

Super B-Daman: Fighting Phoenix is one of those weird little Game Boy games that somehow turns shooting marbles at each other into a legitimately tense battle. You pick your B-Daman (I always went for the fire-based one because, well, explosions), and then it's just you and an opponent in these tight little arenas where ricochets matter way more than you'd think.

The controls take a second to click—holding buttons to charge shots while dodging feels awkward at first—but once it does, you start pulling off these ridiculous bank shots off walls to nail the other guy when they least expect it. The pixel art's surprisingly crisp for a Game Boy title, and each B-Daman has its own over-the-top special attack animation that never gets old.

It never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it's got that same weirdly strategic energy as Medabots or Custom Robo, just with marbles instead of robots. If you've got a soft spot for 90s toy-based games, this one's worth digging up.
