Super Buster Brothers came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that early wave of SNES games that really leaned into two player co-op, something a lot of us were looking for after years of taking turns on the NES. It didn't have the flash of some other titles, but it had a solid, quirky charm that made it a regular in our rotation.

You control one of two brothers, each armed with a harpoon gun, and your goal is to clear each single screen level of all the bizarre, balloon-like enemies. The main mechanic is grabbing these inflated foes with your harpoon and then flinging them into walls or other enemies to pop them. The physics are unpredictable; a perfectly aimed throw can bounce right back at you, and the screen often becomes a chaotic mess of ricocheting creatures. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding quick reflexes and a bit of luck. It feels like controlled, hilarious pandemonium from start to finish.
