Game Overview

Super F1 Circus 2 is one of those weird, wonderful SNES racers that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s basically F1 meets Saturday morning cartoons. The cars handle like they’re on rails (in a good way), and the tracks have these ridiculous hairpin turns where you’ll constantly be elbowing AI drivers out of the way. It’s not a sim by any stretch, but the speed feels great for a 16-bit game.

What I love is how unapologetically arcadey it is. The sprites are chunky and bright, the music’s got that classic SNES synth energy, and there’s this weird charm to how serious F1 cars behave in such a silly, exaggerated world. It’s like someone took Ridge Racer’s drift mechanics and fed them candy before shoving them into Monaco. If you dig obscure retro racers, this one’s a blast—just don’t expect Gran Turismo.
