Game Overview

Super NES Super Scope 6 came out in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Nintendo. It was one of those light gun games that tried to make use of the bulky Super Scope peripheral, a big plastic bazooka looking thing you aimed at the screen. This was back when having a dedicated accessory felt like a special event, even if the execution was sometimes a bit rough.

You don't control a character so much as you control a targeting reticle, pointing the Super Scope at the TV to blast whatever appears. The main objective is simply to hit your targets accurately and quickly across six different mini games. Signature mechanics include destroying falling blocks in a shooting gallery version of Tetris, rapidly targeting moles that pop up from holes, and frantically shooting down waves of incoming UFOs before your limited missiles are depleted. The pacing is frantic in some modes, methodical in others, but the real challenge often comes from calibrating the unwieldy hardware itself. It feels like a test of your reflexes against a sometimes uncooperative piece of technology.
