Game Overview

Superhero League of Hoboken is one of those weird, hilarious MS-DOS RPGs that shouldn’t work but totally does. You lead a ragtag team of the most useless superheroes ever—like Crimson Tape, who’s great at bureaucracy but not much else, or Iron Tummy, whose entire power is handling spicy food. The writing is pure Steve Meretzky: sharp, absurd, and packed with jokes that still land decades later.

It’s set in a post-apocalyptic New Jersey (because of course it is), where you’ll fight bizarre enemies like sentient garbage and a villainous jack-in-the-box named Dr. Entropy. The gameplay’s a mix of turn-based combat and old-school adventure puzzles—expect to scratch your head at some of the solutions, but in a good way. The 256-color graphics are charmingly dated, and the CD-ROM version even had voice acting, which just adds to the ridiculousness.

If you’re into quirky, dialogue-heavy RPGs with more personality than polish, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t expect your superheroes to be, you know, actually super.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
