Tiny RC cars with N64 physics—slide around absurd toy tracks, tweak parts that might do nothing, and watch your car tumble in slow-mo when you wipe out. Janky but oddly satisfying.

Game Overview

So, Tamiya Racing 64 is this weird little prototype racing game for the N64 that never officially came out—but somehow ROMs of it exist. You’re basically racing miniature Tamiya model cars (you know, those radio-controlled ones) but with N64-era graphics, which is both janky and kinda charming.

The physics feel surprisingly weighty for tiny cars—you’ll slide around corners like you’re on polished linoleum, and crashes send your car flipping in slow motion. The tracks are these over-the-top miniature landscapes with loop-de-loops and jumps that’d be impossible in real life. Half the fun is tweaking your car’s setup between races, though I still haven’t figured out if the adjustments actually do anything.

It’s rough around the edges (it is a prototype), but there’s something weirdly addictive about watching your tiny car bounce off walls at 60mph. If you’ve ever wanted to live out childhood RC car fantasies with late-’90s jank, this is your chance.
