Game Overview

Test Drive: Off-Road 3 came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Infogrames. It was one of those late-era GBC racers that tried to squeeze a bit more out of the hardware before the Advance took over. You got a solid sense of speed and some decent vehicle variety, which was about all you could ask for from a handheld off-roader at the time.

You pick a truck, like a Jeep or a Dodge, and race through dirt and mud across several locations. The main goal is to win events, earn cash, and use it to upgrade your ride or buy new ones. The top-down view gives you a clear look at the track, but the physics are weighty; hitting a rock or sliding on a turn really throws off your momentum. Races are short but demand consistency, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably as you progress. It feels satisfying to finally master a course after a few messy runs.
