Spectrum HoloByte released their version of Tetris for the Amiga in 1988, bringing Alexey Pajitnov's puzzle design to a platform known for its strong graphics and sound. It was one of several home computer adaptations at the time, but it stood out for its clean presentation and smooth controls.
You control the orientation and lateral movement of falling tetromino shapes, aiming to form solid horizontal lines which then vanish, making room for more pieces. The game includes several modes, such as Marathon, where you play until the stack reaches the top, and Time Attack, which challenges you to clear a set number of lines as quickly as possible. The pace steadily increases, demanding quicker decisions and sharper spatial awareness. It feels orderly and absorbing, a quiet test of focus amid the escalating speed.
