I first played The Castle of Dr. Malvado as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer's name. It was one of those early 90s adventure titles that relied more on atmosphere and clever design than flashy graphics, typical for the platform at the time.

You control an unnamed investigator exploring the doctor's estate, room by room, solving environmental puzzles to progress deeper into the mansion. The main goal is to uncover the secrets behind the doctor's disappearance, which involves finding keys, manipulating odd machinery, and avoiding traps. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty comes from the obscure logic of some puzzles. It feels like piecing together a strange, slightly malevolent story with every new screen you enter.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
