Game Overview

The Dark Queen of Krynn came out in 1992 for MS-DOS, developed by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was the third game in the Dragonlance Gold Box series, building on the mechanics of its predecessors while refining the interface and visual presentation. At the time, it felt like a natural evolution for players already familiar with the style of these early computer RPGs.

You control a party of up to six characters, exploring the world of Krynn through a mix of top-down travel and first-person dungeon navigation. The main objective involves confronting the titular Dark Queen, Takhisis, and her draconian armies. Signature mechanics include tactical, grid-based combat where positioning and spell selection matter, along with an emphasis on party management and inventory. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be steep without careful planning. It feels like a methodical, hands-on adventure where every decision carries weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
