Game Overview

I first played The Lemmings Chronicles back in 1994, a game from DMA Design that came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series. It was one of those titles you'd find on a shareware disc, sitting alongside other puzzle and platform games of the era, and it had a distinct, almost frantic charm that set it apart from the more straightforward adventures.

You don't control a single character; instead, you manage a whole crowd of lemmings as they march relentlessly forward. Your main goal is to guide a certain number of them to the exit on each screen, using a limited set of skills you assign, like digging, climbing, or building bridges. The challenge comes from the fact that these skills are one-time use per lemming, and if you assign the wrong ability at the wrong time, you can lose a critical tool for the rest of the level. Enemies like Psycho Buzzards and potato monsters add to the chaos, often destroying your carefully laid plans in seconds. The pacing is tense, almost frantic, as you try to think several steps ahead while everything is constantly in motion. It feels like conducting a chaotic, sometimes disastrous, orchestra where every mistake echoes loudly.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
