Play The Lost City of Atlantis Online

You play a merchant stumbling through maze-like ruins, solving oddly specific puzzles and whacking monsters with a rusty sword—classic MS-DOS jank with weird charm. NPCs roast you while dropping Atlantis lore between dodgy combat and pixelated corridors.

Game Overview

I first played The Lost City of Atlantis back in the mid-90s, when it came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series. It was developed by Noch Software, and it fit right in with the kind of exploratory, puzzle-heavy titles that were common on the platform at the time. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a certain earnestness that made it stand out in a sea of shareware adventures.

You control a lone adventurer who explores the ruins of Atlantis screen by screen, fighting monsters with a simple sword and gathering pieces of a mystical artifact. The main goal is to reassemble the Trident of Poseidon, which involves navigating maze-like corridors, solving inventory-based puzzles, and talking to cryptic NPCs for clues. Combat is straightforward but clunky, and the pacing can be slow due to the deliberate exploration and sometimes obscure puzzle solutions. Playing it feels like unraveling an old, slightly frayed map; you know there's treasure at the end, but getting there requires patience and attention to detail.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
