Game Overview

I first played The Rings of Medusa back in the early '90s, when it came out on MS-DOS through Starbyte Software. It was one of those games that felt ambitious for its time, a mix of strategy and action that stood out among the simpler arcade-style titles. You could tell the developers were trying something different, even if the graphics and interface showed their age even then.

You control a deposed prince trying to reclaim his throne, starting with almost nothing. The game blends trading, bounty hunting, and tactical combat; you gather resources, hire mercenaries, and engage in turn-based battles on a strategic map. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow by today's standards, and the difficulty can be punishing if you don't plan your moves carefully. Playing it feels like a patient, sometimes frustrating, but deeply satisfying climb from obscurity to power.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
