James Pond flops through ridiculous underwater events—block beach balls from waking seals, race through splashy sprints, and drag three friends into the chaos. Pure early '90s SNES weirdness with four-player yelling potential.

I picked up The Super Aquatic Games on the Super Nintendo back in 1993, a release from Millennium Interactive. It was one of those oddball sports compilations that felt right at home on the SNES, a console filled with experimental and often silly multiplayer titles. It didn't try to be a serious simulation; it was just a collection of strange events set in and around water.
You control a team of four different aquatic athletes, like a penguin or a seal, competing in a series of Olympic-style mini-games. The main objective is to win medals across events that range from platform diving to a bizarre event where you must block beach balls from hitting sleeping seals. The gameplay hinges on simple, often frantic, button-mashing and timing for things like swimming strokes or high jumps. The pacing is quick, bouncing from one short event to the next, and the difficulty comes more from the chaotic nature of the events than from complex controls. It feels like controlled silliness, a game best enjoyed with a few friends shouting at the screen.
