Theme Hospital came out in 1997 for MS-DOS, developed by Bullfrog Productions. It was part of that wave of simulation games where you managed complex systems, but it stood out by focusing on something both familiar and absurd. The game didn't take itself too seriously, which was a nice change of pace from more serious business sims of the time.

You control the entire operation of a hospital, placing rooms, hiring staff, and diagnosing bizarre ailments like Bloaty Head or Slack Tongue. The main objective is to keep your hospital profitable and efficient while curing patients, but things spiral quickly. Key mechanics include balancing your budget against constant crises, researching cures for new diseases, and dealing with emergencies that flood your halls. The pacing is relentless; one moment you're fine, the next you're bankrupt from a lawsuit or overrun with epidemics. It feels like trying to hold a dozen balloons underwater at once, and it's wonderfully stressful.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
