Play Time Riders in American History Online

You hop through wonky MS-DOS time portals with a janky pistol, dodging musket fire in 1776 one minute and barely hanging onto a steam train in 1869 the next—all while dealing with Dr. Dread’s ridiculous historical fanfiction.

Game Overview

Time Riders in American History is one of those weirdly charming MS-DOS games where you hop through time to stop a delusional villain named Dr. Dread—who’s convinced everyone his ancestors built America. You start off in 1492 with nothing but a basic pistol and some seriously pixelated historical figures to talk to. The dialogue’s hilariously over-the-top, like convincing Columbus you’re not actually a Spanish spy.

Combat’s janky but weirdly satisfying once you get used to it—expect to die a lot in the first 10 minutes until you figure out how to dodge musket fire. The time jumps are the best part, though. One minute you’re sneaking past British troops in 1776, the next you’re racing a steam train in 1869 while Dread’s goons try to shove you off. It’s chaotic, but in a way that makes you want to see what ridiculous scenario comes next.

Just don’t expect historical accuracy. I’m pretty sure Ben Franklin never fought a robot.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
