Play Tom and the Ghost Online

Tom and the Ghost is one of those MS-DOS Classic Games releases that feels like it was pulled straight from a shareware catalog. I don't recall the developer offhand, but it fits right in with the era's simple, screen-by-screen adventures. You control a boy named Tom who has to navigate a large, multi-room haunted house, and the goal is straightforward: find a way out.

Movement is tile-based, and you explore the mansion one static screen at a time. The main threat is the ghost, which appears randomly to chase you; if it touches you, you lose a life. You have no way to fight it, so evasion is your only tool. The house is filled with environmental puzzles, like moving blocks to reach higher platforms or finding keys for locked doors. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty comes from memorizing the ghost's patterns and the mansion's layout. It feels like a tense game of hide and seek where one wrong move sends you back to the start.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
